Optometry seeking expanded role in diabetes care

Millions of Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes, with millions yet to be diagnosed. The AOA has long recognized that optometry has a role in the care of patients with diabetes. However, it’s moving more aggressively to demonstrate that optometry can make an even greater impact on diabetes care.

TBI: More can be done

According to the CDC, millions of visits annually to hospital emergency rooms relate to traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) whether from falls, car accidents and intentional or unintentional blows. Tragically, the CDC reports, about 150 people a day die from injuries that include TBIs.
